Education and Training
Knowing that children are the future custodians, hence, our interest in developing their individual ingenuities and capacities through formal and vocational training.
Our job is to help them navigate the terrains of their hearts and minds, so they productively navigate the real world as important role players.
We are exposing the children to limitless possibilities so they can attain individual and astronomical success collectively. We want to raise them to be nation builders, not just society’s recipients.
Nutrition & Food Security
We are proponents of a balanced diet as opposed to the “available diet” that has recently become so prevalent in many homes. This is because their physical and psychological health hangs on their availability and accessibility to food when and how they need it.
Any child should not be burdened with the thought of what to eat and how to get what to eat; hence, the reason why we ensure they eat well.
“We want them to have access to sufficient, hygienic and nutritious food to meet their dietary needs for both physical and mental development to make their lives healthy and active.”
Child Shelter & Care
We are directly and indirectly involved in providing a safe, conducive and trauma-free place for children needing immediate accommodation.
"Child welfare is the crux of what we do, and this segment is more like the foundation of our work at Kent Home. We take care of children from age 4-17 years.”
We embody love and pass it on to them as they grow daily under our shelter and care. They are our products of love and care.
Child Right & Protection
We do everything in our capacity using the instrument of laws to keep the children from abuse or violence in any form, physical, emotional or psychological. We ensure they;
- Have access to quality and standard education
- Live in an environment that fosters their development
- Have solicitors who make sure they are not subjected to unlawful and overwhelming activities
- Have access to the basic amenities they need to live productively
- Are taken away from violence or violence-prone environment and activities
- Are taken away or shielded from any form of abuse by families or neighbours.
Tending to their Psychosocial needs
We are passionate about their health and developmental well-being while our compassion also gives us a nobler responsibility of:
- Rebuilding their social structures so they can be grafted into the societies as active survivors rather than passive victims.
- Nurturing their creativity by exposing them to exercises and adventures that would challenge their problem-solving capacities.
- Showing them the beauties and endless possibilities of life through excursions and events that would spurn them to aspire for more incredible things in life.
- Giving them moral support, encouragement and corrections based on any informed decision they are making from their early stage.
- Providing them with tools and resources to put their beautiful minds and pure hearts into physical and tangible work.
- Empowering them to help others as they are being helped . . .
Household Economic Strengthening
We understand that many families are willing to care for their kids but cannot because they are financially incapacitated.
This is why we have intervention programmes dedicated to reducing families' economic weakness by empowering the parents and children of a “very workable” age to provide essential needs of the family rather than depending on external assistance.
We make vulnerable families sustainable families that can raise capital to cater for the cost of accommodation, meals, clothes and childcare.
By successfully doing this, all other efforts to help Orphans and Vulnerable Children in such families are taken care of.
