Comfort Olubunmi Foundation operates a transitional home for orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) called Kent Home. Kent Home is dedicated to promoting the welfare of vulnerable young children, ensuring their wishes and feelings are respected as outlined in the Children’s Act 1989 and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Established from a deep passion to eliminate the stigma and limitations faced by orphans and vulnerable children, Kent Home strives to create an inclusive environment that provides these children with a sense of belonging and opportunity.
The vision of Kent Home is “where every child matters.” We focus on rehabilitating, transforming, and integrating young lives into society, providing a nurturing environment essential for their growth.
The following supports are provided in our family-oriented environment:
In addition to our residential care, Comfort Olubunmi Foundation works with various governmental and security agencies, community-based organizations (CBOs), and child-centered networks such as the Association for Orphans and Vulnerable NGOs in Nigeria (AONN), Association of Orphanages and Home Operators in Nigeria (ASOHON), and Child Protection Network (CPN). These partnerships help us deliver services based on best practices in a child-friendly and family-oriented environment, both in our shelter (Kent Home) and the wider community.
The foundation currently supports 26 children:
In addition to residential care, the foundation extends support to the wider community:
Through these efforts, Comfort Olubunmi Foundation aims to create a more supportive and equitable environment for orphans and vulnerable children, enhancing their opportunities for a brighter future.
In 2017 my Brother told me about Kent Home operated by COF Foundation which he got to know through his friend. I listened patiently to his gist and testimonies of the good work done by the N.G.O. I was particularly keen on the Kent Home" project, the shelter facility for Orphans and vulnerable children. So I decided to visit Kent Home, it was a enlightening experience, I decided immediately to be volunteer so as to contribute my quota to the home. I later did my industrial training at the home since I studied a Home management course.
I thought I will be contributing to the development of the home eventually the contribution and development was mutual, gained lots of relationships, experiences, capacity building and skills from the interaction with the children, project management, indoor and outdoor activities etc.
Altogether, I can say that my experiences in Kent Home has been enlightening, fun-filled, challenging. I'm happy that I'm part of Kent Home Story...”
